6 Techniques To Increase Your Blog’s Traffic

One important topic for blog owners is how to increase traffic, which is easier than it seems, once you know how. In this article, we cover 6 specific methods of increasing traffic to your blog.

1. Write often – It’s not a coincidence that blogs with the most frequent updates have the most traffic. Though to be fair, these blogs often have more than one writers to write for them. For blogs with one individual writer, it’s recommended that you are consistent in delivering your articles. This is especially true for new blogs.

2. Write killer titles – The first thing that grab the attention of readers is your article’s title. For titles, the magic word that you should include often are “guide”, “easy”, “rules”, “tips”, “How-to”. These work great in grabbing the attention of readers.

3. In-site SEO – To rank well in search engines, it’s important that you optimize your site with relevant keywords in titles, tags and articles. For new blogs, In wp-admin, under “permalink”, choose custom structure and type in /%postname%/. This will change how your post links appear, which helps a great deal in your site’s SEO.

4. Participate at related forums and blogs – Whatever industry or niche you’re in, there are bloggers, forums and an online community that’s already active. Depending on the specificity of your focus, you may need to think one or two levels broader than your own content to find a large community, but with the size of the participatory web today, even the highly specialized content areas receive attention.

5. Use links – Links are one of the most powerful parts of your blog. Not only are links noticed by search engines, but they also act as a tap on the shoulder to other bloggers who can easily identify who is linking to their sites. Linking helps to get you noticed by other bloggers who are likely to investigate the sites that are linking to them. This may lead them to become new readers of your blog or to add links to your blog from theirs.

6. RSS Feeds – Get a RSS feed from feedburner so that you have an RSS feed URL that people can subscribe to. RSS means Rich Site Summary. It lists updates of websites or blogs available for syndication as headlines and summaries.

Since traffic building generally takes time, be sure to be persistent in writing good contents, besides focusing on building traffic to your site. Even with small traffic, good contents never fail to attract links and readership.
